During our wide-ranging interview last Friday, which covered the late Society and Syndicated Columnist and Opera Singer Marci Weiner and the new movie Tango Shalom, Beverly Hills Publicist Edward Lozzi (Ed Lozzi to his friends) and I were talking memories about the Night of 100 Stars Party when what started as a brief mention of Star Trek, turned into a series allegation on the part of the long-time friend to the media. Ed Lozzi asserted that Indian supermodel and actress, and star of the 1979 film Star Trek The Motion Picture, was killed in what was then called Bombay and now called Mumbai.
“Now we’re getting political”, said Lozzi, who was both publicist for and then boyfriend to the stunning woman who played the bald Lieutenant Ilia, who was the love interest of Captain Willard Decker played by the actor Stephen Collins. Ed contends that, contrary to reports that form a party line that Khambatta had a heart attack, Persis was killed because she campaigned for Indira Ghandi, whom she loved. Lozzi says that religious fanatics wanted Ghandi and Persis dead.
“She constantly complained (to Ed) of being followed,” Ed said. And yet nothing was done to give her the necessary protection.
On his Edward Lozzi and Associates corporate website Lozzi writes that:
Then the problems for Persis and those who loved her began. Her mind and body began to deteriorate. She campaigned for Indira Ghandi, whom she loved. Religious fanatics wanted Ghandi and Persis dead. Death threats were the norm for Persis. She fluffed them off. They murdered Indira Ghandi. Then they murdered Persis in Bombay in 1998. Yes, murder. The media questioned the details of the death of Persis Khambatta. They wanted to know why there was no autopsy from the Bombay hospital where she disappeared after the hospital announced her death as a heart attack. Investigators for the media in the US and London found that she was constantly threatened by those who murdered Indira Ghandi. It would be very easy to inject air into her heart or turn a switch off in a hospital room. We know what happened. Persis reported her threats to Indian law enforcement officials constantly. After her death those records disappeared. The death notice including IMDB states: death by heart attack. That is not certain. There is no autopsy. I will never forget our brief encounter. Demons entered her life. She fled back to her native India where her demons caught up with her. Always remembered.
Lozzi says that Ms. Khambatta had been a strong supporter of Indira Gandhi and even campaigned for her before her assassination. Indeed, it is reported that In 1982, Persis Khambatta was introduced to the then prime minister, who said to her, “Who doesn’t know Persis? She is the pride of India.”
Indira Gandhi was assassinated at 9:29 a.m. on October 31st, 1984 at her residence in Safdarjung Road, New Delhi. It is said that she was killed by her Sikh bodyguards Satwant Singh and Beant Singh in the aftermath of Operation Blue Star. It is written that few outside India know about the events leading up to her death. But, it is clear that there was a cycle of violence between the Sikh militants and the government.
Clearly, there is much that is not written about Ms. Khambatta and given the torid and violent politics of the time, Ed Lozzi may be on to something.

Note from Zennie62Media’s Zennie62 YouTube and Oakland News Now Today Blog SF Bay Area: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
