Rally For Fired Oakland Police Chief LeRonne Armstrong 2/17/2023 12 Noon City Hall Plaza
On Wednesday, February 16th, new Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao held a press conference where she announced she fired popular African American Oakland Police Chief LeRonne Armstrong, and for a silly reason:
“In response to a public report that concluded that OPD had repeatedly failed to rigorously investigate misconduct and hold officers accountable, Chief Armstrong said these were not incidents where officers behaved poorly. He stated that he did not believe these incidents reflected systemic problems. Instead, Chief Armstrong described the underlying incident as a minor vehicle collision. He said that officers made “mistakes.” He publicly stated that the sergeant involved in a vehicle collision was held accountable, disregarding the independent investigator’s findings of serious flaws in the disciplinary process.”
Mayor Thao pointed to a press conference Chief LeRonne Armstrong held a week ago, where he did say that the actions odf a known, bumbling Oakland Police Sergeant that no one wanted to spend the time investigating were “mistakes”. Moreover, Oakland Police Internal Affairs had 1,500 cases in 2021 – that was far from the most important one. So, why did the lawyer for the Federal Monitor choose that one? Answer: it was a set up to get rid of Chief LeRonne Armstrong, by using a case that doesn’t directly involve any other police officer who may be in line for promotion. And why would Mayor Sheng Thao place Chief LeRonne Armstrong on leave and then craft a reason to remove him? Answer, she obviously was making up the reasons as she went along. Time to rally.
Join us for a Thursday, February 17th, 2023 12 Noon Rally at Oakland City Hall, AKA Oscar Grant Plaza, AKA Frank Ogawa Plaza to come together in support of Chief Armstrong.
Chief Armstrong has worked to look out for Black Oaklanders and keep us away from Memphis-style-harm.
Join us to bring back Chief Armstrong!
Stay tuned.

Note from Zennie62Media and OaklandNewsNow.com : this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a YouTube channel. When the video is “liked” by Zennie62 YouTube, then it is automatically uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective here, on top of our is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours – is the use of the existing YouTube social graph on any subject in the World. Now, news is reported with a smartphone and also by promoting current content on YouTube: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, or having a camera crew to shoot what is already on YouTube. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
