ONN – Reaction: Raptors Get The Bounce, Beat 76ers 92-90 ECSF Game 7 2019
Kawhi Leonard’s impossible, long two point shot figured to bounce off the rim, and send this epic Philadelphia 76ers at Toronto Raptors 2019 Eastern Conference Semi-Final Game 7 into overtime. But the ball had other ideas.
It caught the rim as it bounced out, came back in, then looked like it was going to bounce out, yet again, only to give up, and fall into the rim. Score two points and the shocking victory. The first NBA Playoffs Game 7 buzzer-beater in history.
It was the perfect example of the saying “That’s the way the ball bounces,” because that’s exactly what happened. There’s no way anyone can predict that, or design it, or write a program to make it happen. That was a complete example of what they talk about when they say that was God’s will.
Just don’t tell that to Joel Embid.
The 76ers star was guarding Kawhi Leonard when he made the shot, and the result left him in tears. From the moment the ball bounced in and the crowd went crazy, Embid went from sad to outright crying as he walked up the ramp and to the visitor’s locker room.
Who can blame him. The 76ers looked like they were going to lose and it was the Raptors poor decisions that allowed them to tie the game 90-all. Overtime seemed to be in the very near future.
But then the ball had other ideas.
Stay tuned.
