ReKTGlobal and NBC Sports Group partner: the fastest growing business authority in esports and competitive gaming, ReKTGlobal, today announced it has partnered with NBC Sports Group for season two of the Universal Open Rocket League, a 2:2 team esports tournament bringing the best teams together from North America and Europe (for the first time) – to compete for a $100,000 prize pool.

And Rocket League, the sports-action hit with a community of more than 46 million players, developed and published by San Diego-based game studio, Psyonix, returns as the featured game for the Universal Open for the second consecutive season.

“The renewal of Rocket League for a second season with a legacy network like NBC Sports is tremendous validation for the esports community,” said ReKTGlobal VP of Esports, Kevin Knocke. “This partnership demonstrates the demand for esports content is growing and now reaching the mass market.”

ReKTGlobal will produce cross-platform exclusive content for Universal Open Rocket League, including player profiles, behind the scenes content, social engagements and more. The content will go beyond the game itself, looking at the lives of top gamers, their unconventional paths to stardom in the esports world, family lives and in-depth coverage of their road to the $100K prize.

ReKTGlobal has the job or securing sponsors for the season, and has finalized a corporate sponsorship deal with State Farm – with the second season in full swing in both Europe and North America, . The tournament sponsors are also working with ReKTGlobal to produce in-depth player profiles on Team Rogue fan-favorites Emiliano “Sizz” Benny and Jacob McDowell, that will be airing throughout the tournament.

NBC Sports and ReKTGlobal are currently partnered and filming content for season two. The Universal Open Rocket League Regional Finals are being conducted on-site at four NBC Sports Regional Networks’ studios around the United States – NBC Sports Washington (East Regional; July 28), SNY (Northeast Regional; July 29), NBC Sports Chicago (Central Regional; August 5), and NBC Sports Bay Area (West Regional; August 11).
