Famed actress Roseanne Barr, of the number-one-rated new show “Roseanne” on ABC who had her show cancelled today over a racist tweet aimed at former President Obama aide Valerie Jarrett., also tweeted negatively about Oakland, too.
On May 20th, 2018 at 9:41 AM, Ms. Barr took to Twitter and tweeted “ ppl murdered in oakland every 2 minutes”, in response to another tweeted stating “If you want to do your duty as an American citizen walk into a prison cell, lock the door, and throw away the key. That would help, you could also stop speaking but that is just a bonus.
And that included the headline Oakland Mayor: ‘My Duty’ to Call Out Trump’s ‘Racist Lie’ on the new blog Breitbart

This author’s bet is that Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf would inform Ms. Barr that crime in Oakland has decreased, but since she’s busy, this space will do it for her.
As of 8:42 PM EST, “Roseanne”, which normally comes on at 8 PM EST, was replaced by “The Middle.”
As for Roseanne Barr, she issued this apology on Twitter, after removing the offensive submission: “I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”

That wasn’t enough for ABC, who’s fearful of losing sponsors in a highly competitive media environent. ABC Network’s Entertainment President Channing Dungey and Disney CEO Bob Iger ordered the show’s removal from ABC’s list of scheduled programs immediately. In other words, today. The decision was made Tuesday morning, this day, the same day Roseanne was to air at 8 PM EST.
It marks the first time in history a major television program was removed for reasons related to social media and in less than a day.
Stay tuned.
