ONN – Scott McKibben Says Coliseum JPA Oakland Raiders Lease Talks Stalled
What was originally expected to be a celebratory Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Joint Powers Authority (JPA) Meeting, where the Oakland Raiders Mark Davis and Marc Badain would show up and sign the Coliseum Lease Extension for 2019 and 2020, became a closed-to-the-public meeting without Davis and Badain, and news for the Coliseum JPA Board.
That news was that the lease extension would not be signed by the Raiders because of an issue that the Silver and Black brought up last Friday. Scott McKibben, the Coliseum JPA Executive Director, said that he could not give details of what the issue was.
“Well we spent some time going through all the details,” McKibben said. “We still have one rather significant open issue and I will be going back to the Raiders to discuss that the result. I’m not going comment (on the open issue) it’s an issue on their end – on the Raiders. (But) it’s an issue for both of us. It requires agreement – this could sink the deal.”
That said, the problem has nothing to do with the Oakland A’s, or the team’s new seat plans, and the issue did not come from the NFL through the Oakland Raiders. Speculations as to what it is runs the gamut. But Scott did give a clue that it may have come from the temperamental Davis when he referred to the predicament as being part of “The Raider Way.”
