Oakland News Now – Senators Diane Feinstein, Chuck Schumer, On FBI Investigation Of Brett Kavanaugh

.

This morning, Democratic Senators Diane Feinstein and Chuck Schumer gave a press conference after reviewing the FBI Report on Brett Kavanaugh. Feinstein, the Senator who was once Mayor of San Francisco, said “The most notable part of the report is what’s not in it,” and that the FBI failed to interview a number of witnesses.

The vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh as Supreme Court Justice is set to take place on Saturday. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell filed a motion Wednesday for a cloture vote on Kavanaugh for Friday. But reports now are that a confirmation vote is to come some time Saturday.

Brett Kavanaugh is President Donald Trump’s second pick to fill a vacant Supreme Court seat – in this case, the one created by the departure of Anthony Kennedy, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of The United States (SCOTUS).

However, Brett Kavanaugh came with controversy, first because Democrats didn’t want Trump to have a second SCOTUS pick, and then because of a constant drum-beat of claims about his character, the most stinging one from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford.

Dr. Christine Blasey Ford had privately told Senator Feinstein of the 36-year-old alleged incident privately, but then it was (some now) leaked and made public. That led to a dramatic hearing where hristine Blasey Ford emerged as a credible victim of sexual assault.

Kavanaugh followed her with a presentation that was angry and unhinged, but some believed well-justified. Democrats called for an FBI Investigation, but it took a plea by two sexual assault victim adovcate protestors to Arizona Senator Jeff Flake to turn the Senate Judiciary Committee toward asking the President to call for an FBI Investigation.

Trump did.

Stay tuned.
