ONN – SF 49ers 27, Minnesota Vikings 10 – Congratulations To Jed York On NFL Playoffs Win
The San Francisco 49ers used a powerful defense and an opportunistic offense to land its first NFL NFC First Round Divisional Playoff Game. The SF 49ers won 27 to 10 over the Minnesota Vikings.
A number of people deserve congratulations, from 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan to Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, to General Manager John Lynch. But, for me, the person who deserves the most thanks is Niners Team Owner Jed York.
From 2014 to when Shanahan was hired, York went through four coaches – Jim Harbaugh, Jim Tomsula, Chip Kelly, and then Kyle Shanahan, before giving the son of the former and legendary head coach Mike Shanahan a chance to build a champion, working with Lynch.
During the period where York looked like he was the grim reaper, he received criticism from a number of beat reporters. Lowell Cohn was most notably and way too nasty toward Jed. I remarked that York lacked a long term plan. I was correct: York was impatient to realize a winner.
But through it all, Jed kept pushing, and working. And he proved his NFL leadership skills when he dived in an created the foundation of a new set of NFL plans and policies that helped solved the National Anthem Protest Issue. I talked to Jed about that at the 2016 Fall NFL Owners Meeting in New York City:
The 2019-2020 49ers have achieved a number of heights not seen during the 21st Century life of the organization. That’s purely a testament to the determination of Jed York to build a championship team.
Now, that team, the Niners, are one step from Super Bowl 54.
Stay tuned.
Note from Oakland News Now Technical: this video-blog post shows the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
