The San Francisco 49ers have made the Las Vegas Raiders look silly with read-option misdirection running. The Gus Bradley coached defense does not make a choice in defensing against the offensive attack.
What happens instead is the defensive end on the playside waits for the quarterback Trey Lance to either keep it or hand off, and then gets smoked by either the running back or the QB.
What the Raiders must do is play it inside out. Stop the inside run before it starts and force the quarterback to keep it. Then chase the quarterback. By forcing the issue the Raiders Defense could force a mistake. Plus they don’t need to involve the defensive backs with the blitz.
