Whatever the cause, according to reports from the California Highway Patrol’s Officer Bert Diaz, one person died as a result of the shooting. three vehicles were traveling on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 around 2:23 a.m. The two men who were shot were riding in an SUV in the No. 5 lane (to the extreme right on the deck), the California Highway Patrol said, when an unknown vehicle pulled alongside in an unknown lane and shot at the SUV, causing it to collide with a sedan traveling in the No. 3 lane, which is in the middle of the lower eastbound deck of the Bay Bridge.

California Highway Patrol reports that the driver of the SUV, said to be an African American man, was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other passengers in the vehicle, an African American man and a caucasian man, were taken to San Francisco General Hospital, after suffering unknown injuries.
