Sheldon Adelson is dead, sadly. The man who grew Comdex (the precursor to CES Las Vegas), and built the Venetian and Palaazo hotels, The Sands Expo, and the Las Vegas Sands Casino dynasty, and brought the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas, has died at 87. He leaves a giant shadow of service to Las Vegas.
Some will only remember Sheldon Adelson as Donald Trump’s number one, best, donor. I think, in light of the events of last week, Mr. Adelson would tell you he made a mistake.
I will remember Sheldon Adelson as a city-builder who created memorable places that we wanted to be in, and to visit, again, and again. I will also remember him as a champion of Israel.
