OAKLAND, CA – SHENG THAO, continues to gain strong support as the progressive candidate for Oakland’s open District 4 City Council seat.
This week, SHENG received the #1 endorsement from Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, Black Young Democrats of the East Bay, and Asian Pacific American Democratic Caucus of Alameda County. SHENG also received the #2 ranked choice from the East Bay Times.
SHENG THAO’S statement on receiving Planned Parenthood’s #1 endorsement:
“As a single mother, I understand how vital resources like Planned Parenthood are in making reproductive and sexual health accessible, especially to women, transgender, and gender non-conforming people who often have difficulty obtaining adequate healthcare. Healthcare is too often inaccessible, so when organizations like Planned Parenthood contribute to making access universal, it is important that our community be aware of these resources. I am excited to have the endorsement of Planned Parenthood and look forward to contributing to our shared goal of healthcare accessibility and education community-wide as Councilmember for District 4.”
SHENG THAO’S statement on receiving Black Young Democrats of East Bay’s endorsement:
“With a middle school-aged son myself, I am aware of how important it is for Oakland youth to be politically aware and active in creating positive community change. I am honored to have the endorsement of the Black Young Democrats of East Bay, our values align to uplift those voices that are too often marginalized and silenced. I look forward to continuing to work with BYDEB as the District 4 Councilmember and to continue to support the empowerment of Oakland youths and young adults.”
SHENG THAO’s statement on receiving APA Democrats endorsement:
“As a Southeast Asian woman, who is a daughter of refugees, this endorsement is extremely important for me. There is about 16% of Asian Americans that reside in the City of Oakland. The city has 11 elected positions and not one of these elected positions is held by an Asian American. I’m excited to have an opportunity to be a strong representative for District 4 and for the Asian American community in Oakland.”
