Oakland City Council District Four Election Race News.
Sheng Thao, who serves as the Chief of Staff for Oakland At-Large City Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan, sent this announcement that she secured the endorsement of the Oakland Firefighters in the Oakland City Council District Four Race.
Sheng Thao reports:
Oakland firefighters endorse Sheng Thao as their #1 choice for the District 4 City Council race.
Oakland firefighters’ statement:
“Oakland firefighters endorse Sheng Thao as their #1 choice for Oakland City Council District 4. We know Sheng is the right choice when it comes to public safety and standing up for working families. She has the experience and the know-how to get results for District 4 and for Oakland.”
Sheng Thao’s statement:
“I am extremely humbled to have the #1 endorsement of Oakland firefighters. As Councilmember for District 4, I will continue to work to protect our residents.”
Sheng Thao has also been endorsed by IFPTE Local 21, making her the only District 4 candidate to secure both endorsements.
Which is great for Ms. Thao, but guess who just entered the already crowded Oakland City Council District Four Race, to make it, even more so: Francis “Matt” Hummel.
According to Zennie62Media’s Zennie Abraham, “I interviewed Matt when he ran for the Oakland City Council At-Large Seat in 2016, and against the incumbent and re-elected Rebecca Kaplan.” Here is that interview:
Now, there are 10 candidates for the Oakland City Council District Four Seat:
Joseph Simmons
Jonathan Selsley
Charlie Michelson
Joseph Tanios
Nayeli Maxson
Pamela Harris
Ahmad Anderson
Chris Young
Sheng Thao
Francis Hummel
And the incumbent, Annie Campbell Washington, still has her name on the Oakland Public Ethics Commission website list, even though she says she’s not running for re-election.
Crowded.
