Re-Elect Cheryl Davila and Ben Bartlett Says Berkeley Friends Of Adeline Post To Black Voters

Cheryl Davila And Ben Bartlett Berkeley Councilmembers (Photo courtesy Berkeley Tenants Union)

Berkeley – A blog called “Friends Of Adeline” has a post that hits one right between the eyes with the title “For ‘Black’ Berkeleyans, There Are Only Two: Re-Elect Cheryl Davila and Ben Bartlett”, and referring to Berkeley City Councilmembers Ben Bartlett of District 3 and Cheryl Davila of District 2. Here it is, below. I’m posting it here, because absent this action, it’s not the easiest content to find in online search, yet it should be seen and read by many.

Here it is:

For ‘Black’ Berkeleyans, There Are Only Two: Re-Elect Cheryl Davila and Ben Bartlett
October 22, 2020 Friends of Adeline (Photo Courtesy Berkeley Tenants Union)

By Paul Lee

Friends of Adeline

Since I believe that the dangerous mythology of “race,” which has no basis in science, is the root of the even more dangerous reality of racism, I’ve enclosed all “racial” terms in quotes so as not to legitimize either. — PL.

I don’t know if African American Berkeley City Council members Cheryl Davila and Ben Bartlett are friends. Frankly, I don’t care.

What matters to me and, I could assert with confidence, most “black” Berkeleyans is that, more often than not, they can be counted on to do right by us.

This is more than could be said for their council colleagues and the rest of those in our city’s mostly-spineless, sellout, in-the-pocket-of-developers government.

‘Blackness’ Ain’t Enough

However, Ben and Cheryl shouldn’t be supported because they’re “black,” although this can offer the advantages of familiarity and personal investment. Fundamentally, it’s a question of character and commitment. We, as an oppressed people, have learned from painful betrayals that “all skin folk ain’t kinfolk.”

For example, it would be both obscene and terribly destructive if someone who looks like us were to run for office, but only did so at the behest and with the support of rich, “white” real estate interests. This would only facilitate and legitimize the complete colonization or takeover of what’s left of “black” Berkeley.

Forgotten Islands

I’m 60 years old and for all of my life and longer “black” Berkeley — that is, the historically “black” enclaves in the south and west of the city — have been islands of official, damnable neglect.

Indeed, the only branch of government to consistently pay attention to these districts has been the police department, but that’s not the kind of attention that anyone would want because it’s about containment and control under the cover of fighting crime.

‘Mississippi West’

But the real crime began when “black” and other non-“white” peoples were herded by redlining into these districts like cattle, then abandoned to their own devices to make them viable communities — without the supports accorded to the rest of the city, meaning the “white” parts.

With bravery, sacrifice, ingenuity and vision, we did this, despite the racism of Berkeley’s “Mississippi West” government, as many of us called it.

We recognized that it only differed from the infamous Southern bastion of “racial” segregation in how it structured its inequality, which was more urbane and less obviously violent — with the notable exception of the police, whose habitual brutality against us made believable the rumor that many of these officers were recruited from the South.

In another respect, Berkeley was worse than its Southern cousin because it didn’t begin to desegregate its schools, thru compulsory busing, until 1968 — that is, 14 years after the U. S. Supreme Court declared this U. S. brand of apartheid unconstitutional.

But there were also subtler, but not less damaging, forms of violence. Obligating these majority-“black” districts to have to create, from scratch, and sustain, without support, what others could take for granted was a psychic, emotional and material assault upon our dignity.

Unchanged

That’s why we need Cheryl and Ben to remain in office. That’s also why we and our allies must fight to put more people like them on the council and in other positions of authority — people who care about and work for all of Berkeley, not just rich, “white” Berkeley, including the entitled newcomers.

Most “white” Berkeleyans don’t have a clue about any of this history, which, for us, hasn’t fundamentally changed. We are where we began — at the bottom, ignored, isolated, not seriously considered in the councils of power, where we are occasionally spoken about, but rarely given the respect to speak for ourselves.

Only Two

But where we once survived, and even thrived, in “a place of our own,” as one longtime African American resident described “black” Berkeley, nourished and protected by businesses and institutions that we built, most of which collapsed under the weight of successive economic downturns and a drug scourge that hit us first and hardest, now we’re being forced out of all that we had left — our homes.

And who listens to us? Who fights for us? Only Cheryl and Ben, dependably. That’s pathetic and unjust, but it’s also par for the course in this faux “progressive” city, where, as usual, we’re compelled to mostly rely upon ourselves.

Of course, two reliable city council members, no matter how enlightened, can’t alone protect the interests of “black” Berkeleyans. However, as veteran politicians, they can and do occasionally sway, negotiate with or pressure their colleagues to do right by us.

Allies

However, in our long fight for recognition, equity and a justice that was never simple, we have real allies, most of whom don’t look like us and aren’t from here. Just as we couldn’t care less if Cheryl and Ben are best buds, we aren’t interested in what motivates our allies.

We simply accept them as comrades in the fight to make Berkeley in reality what it has fooled the world to believe that it is, but has never been — namely, an inclusive city, where everyone is given the dignity, opportunity, security and justice that should be the common lot of all people.

If you’re an ally, do whatever you can to maintain Cheryl’s and Ben’s positions.

If you aren’t, considered becoming one because — and I ask you to trust me on this because I’ve lived it — Berkeley’s greatest strength has always been its rich cultural diversity, even though our government has almost never supported this.

Perhaps, ironically, that’s what made it so unique and powerful — because the people themselves marshaled it as a resource.

Which Way, Berkeley?

Berkeley’s best future can and should be built upon its past — by learning from its mistakes and benefitting from its successes. Until we can increase their number, Cheryl and Ben are the best hope for this freer, fairer future, or at least a hedge against the obnoxious continuance of its ugly past.

We deserve better. Our children and grandchildren deserve still more. That’s why we’re asking you: Support and vote for Cheryl and Ben. Thank you.

OUSD to Update Public on Massive $133 Million Project to Upgrade Fremont High School in News Conference on Wednesday

Oakland – OUSD is holding a news conference on Wednesday, October 21, to update the school community and the public at large about the progress made on a major project to revamp the Fremont High School campus. Although the construction continues, the changes have come into clear focus with the addition of a new academic building, gymnasium, athletic field with grandstands and press box, a new front entrance to the school, and many other amenities. The changes also include a totally revamped academic building. (Note: also read about the Insight Terminal Solutions Oakland Bulk and Oversized Terminal, here.)

The project will also address sustainability with bioretention planters which will filter rainwater before it reaches the storm drain system, additional windows and skylights that allow for more natural lighting, and even a pair of electric vehicle chargers.

Much of the $133 million project is complete, although crews are putting the finishing touches on the new features, which are expected to be completed by the end of the fall semester in December. That means the school will be ready to welcome students and staff back to campus as early as spring 2021, once conditions related to the Covid pandemic allow for in-person instruction.

Fremont High sits at the corner of Foothill Boulevard and High Street, and serves as an important pillar of the community near the Fruitvale BART Station. With its 900 students, Fremont is the top choice for high school students in the area, in part because of its robust Career and Technical Education programs, which include an advanced woodworking and carpentry shop and a celebrated media arts academy. Many graduates of these programs go on to lucrative careers in Oakland’s trades industry.

“We are excited to show the community, and especially our school community, the new Fremont High campus,” said Superintendent Kyla Johnson-Trammell. “For more than a century, this campus has been warm and welcoming, but we have wanted to make much-needed improvements for a long time because the students and staff deserve it. Thanks to the amazing support of Oakland voters who passed Measure J, we were able to fund the transformation of this campus into a 21st century high school environment that will serve generations of Oaklanders to come.”

Opinion: Re-Elect Ben Bartlett, Berkeley City Council Member District Three, A Champion For Residents

Ben Bartlett For City Council Campaign Launch Speech

That Berkeley City Councilmember Ben Bartlett should face challengers in the 2020 Election is wild to me. When one considers the many accomplishments Bartlett has done for Berkeley, and what work he’s started and that’s left to be done, and then look at his opponents and what they offer, that Bartlett’s re-election should be a point of debate is, well, unusual, for several reasons.

First, consider that each and every member of the Berkeley City Council has endorsed Ben for re-election. That means this:

Jesse Arreguín, Berkeley Mayor
Sophie Hahn, Berkeley Vice Mayor & City Councilmember
Rashi Kesarwani, Berkeley City Councilmember
Cheryl Davila, Berkeley City Councilmember
Kate Harrison, Berkeley City Councilmember
Susan Wengraf, Berkeley City Councilmember
Rigel Robinson, Berkeley City Councilmember
Lori Droste, Berkeley City Councilmember
Tom Bates, Former Berkeley Mayor
Max Anderson, Former Berkeley Councilmember, District 3

.. all of those Berkeley representatives not only want Ben Bartlett to retain his seat, but that they pay attention to him regarding policy formation. Not one of Councilmember Bartlett’s opponents can make that claim. It also means that, again, unlike his opponents, Berkeley residents don’t have to concern themselves with Bartlett’s ability to gain votes for his initiatives representing them.

Second, having all of the Berkeley City Council backing him also means Councilmember Bartlett understands something else his challengers don’t: governance. Governance, simply put, means how the business of government works.

Ben Bartlett’s Constant Focus For South Berkeley Has Been Extremely Affordable Housing

In addition to governance, Councilmember Bartlett’s main focus from the start of his first term has been the development of extremely affordable housing. For example, Mr. Bartlett’s office wrote the grant that allowed Resources for Community Development to gain $40 Million Dollars in affordable housing for South Berkeley. He has also backed a number of initiatives to advance the development of more extremely affordable housing that deserve a book unto themselves.
By contrast, one of Councilmember Bartlett’s challengers is a realtor who’s in favor of pro-market-rate and expensive housing in the middle of the worst homeless crisis in modern history, and The COVID-19 Pandemic.
In addition, she is not even supporting the passage of State Proposition 16. That means she’s not in favor of the re-installation of much-needed affirmative action laws designed to cause social equity.

Councilmember Bartlett Backs Police Spending Reformation In The Wake Of George Floyd

In addition to housing advocacy, Councilmember Bartlett advanced and assisted in the passage of a number of items of legislation designed to focus police spending on alternative crime fighting practices. Thanks to his leadership, and relationships with fellow Berkeley City Councilmembers, Berkeley became a national leader in police reform.

I could go on and on, but I’ll cut to the chase: re-elect Berkeley Councilmember Ben Bartlett.

ONN – SF Police Officers Heavy Handed Treatment Of YouTuber Ends Peacefully

The YouTuber at the channel called Bay Area Transparency made this live-vlog in the middle of an encounter with San Francisco Police Officers that seems to have started with him making the video. Since the YouTuber at the channel called Bay Area Transparency did not at all explain what happened, and talked over the police officers, it is hard to understand exactly what happened.

One thing: Oakland Police would have not acted like that at all. They are trained to allow video-blogging, and I have seen that in action. What they will not do is talk on your YouTube video. But, in all of my years vlogging in Oakland, I’ve never once had a problem with Oakland Police.

I’d like to find out more about what happened here.

And while you’re at it, check out the video featuring Berkeley Councilmember Ben Bartlett asking you to vote for the passage of Proposition 16. Prop 16 would end Prop 209, which ripped out affirmative action programs in California, and effectively reduced black attendance rates at UC Berkeley.

Stay tuned.

From YouTube Channel: October 17, 2020 at 12:21AM

ONN – Ben Bartlett, Berkeley District 3 Councilmember, Says Vote Yes On Prop 16

According to Ballotpedia, Proposition 16 is a constitutional amendment that would repeal Proposition 209, passed in 1996, from the California Constitution. Proposition 209 stated that discrimination and preferential treatment were prohibited in public employment, public education, and public contracting on account of a person’s or group’s race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin. Therefore, as Councilmember Bartlett explained, Proposition 209 banned the use of affirmative action involving race-based or sex-based preferences in California.

Without Proposition 209, the state government, local governments, public universities, and other political subdivisions and public entities would—within the limits of federal law—be allowed to develop and use affirmative action programs that grant preferences based on race, sex, color, ethnicity, and national origin in public employment, public education, and public contracting.

A Proposition 16 “yes” vote supports this constitutional amendment to repeal Proposition 209 (1996), which stated that the government and public institutions cannot discriminate against or grant preferential treatment to persons on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, public education, and public contracting.

Vote “yes” for Prop 16.

When the video is “liked” by Zennie62 YouTube, then it is automatically uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective here, on top of our is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours – is the use of the existing YouTube social graph on any subject in the World. Now, news is reported with a smartphone and also by promoting current content on YouTube: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, or having a camera crew to shoot what is already on YouTube. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. BART Police Officers Subdue Knife-Wielding Man At Oakland Coliseum BART Station

From @Jerryfancomedy on Instagram, who wrote this account:

Today I witnessed something I’ve never witnessed before in Oakland, California. A young Hispanic man bypassed the fare gate at Coliseum BART station without paying; thus setting off the alarm. Two BART police officers just coincidentally happened to be about 20 feet away from where the man was, while I was watching all of this unfold perpendicular to where the officers were at the time. As the man continued walking away, the police officers followed the man while shouting for him to stop and go back to pay for his ride fare. The man clearly ignored their commands and then pulled out a knife. That’s when the officers pulled out their tasers. At this point, I ran for cover and started recording this video from a safe distance. You can tell my hands were shaking when I was recording this video as I was scared myself and did not know if the suspect also had a gun on him. You can clearly tell the officers were pleading for the man to drop the knife. I could hear everything that was being said clearly, even if this video doesn’t display the best audio quality. The suspect was tased multiple times. After the man was handcuffed, you can clearly see the knife on the floor. You can also see one of the officers picking up another similar knife by the wall (not sure if it was thrown by the suspect). I stopped recording when 6-8 other police officers showed up. I was interviewed by Sergeant, William Spears of #BartPolice for a witness statement, as I was the only witness to this situation. In my opinion, the officers handled this situation in a very professional manner. This could have escalated into something much worse; however, I’m just glad that nobody was hurt.

Great work BART Police and thanks for posting Jerry.

Stay tuned.

ONN – Online Leadership Seminar Featuring Berkeley Councilmember Ben Bartlett

“If you don’t like fires, and earthquakes and mayhem, you must stop fires and earthquakes and mayhem. You have the power to make change.” – Ben Bartlett

We are grateful to Berkeley City Councilmember Ben Bartlett for joining us for an online Leadership Seminar in which we discussed the importance of seeing opportunities for making positive change amidst adversity.

Ben Bartlett is Councilmember for Berkeley’s District 3, a 5th generation Berkeley native, an attorney, and lifelong advocate for equity and inclusion. As the son of political activists, he learned the value of community and the necessity of progress. These values of innovation, opportunity and inclusion continue to inform his work.

The Freedom Center continues to turn on a dime, increasing our online classes and sessions during the shelter-in-place order. We are bringing experts from around the world with feet-on-the-ground experience in organizing, civic engagement and public service together with our youth and staff.

This is an excellent time to study the relevance and importance of transforming ourselves to make change in the world.

Berkeley Councilmember Ben Bartlett On Safety for All: George Floyd Community Safety Act

Minneapolis Police Death of George Floyd (photo by ABC30.com)

This Ben Bartlett post called “Safety for All: George Floyd Community Safety Act” by Berkeley Councilmember Ben Bartlett appears on Medium. Here’s an excerpt:

Ben Bartlett Berkeley Councilmember
Ben Bartlett Berkeley Councilmember

In all 50 states and more than 145 cities, Americans are calling for legitimate police accountability, an end to police brutality, and the transformation of the police system itself. The killing of George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, at the hands of police officers in Minneapolis this May initiated this wave of demonstrations. But Mr. Floyd’s death is only the latest entry in a long history of human rights atrocities inflicted on Black individuals. The message is clear: enough is enough.

In response, Congress has introduced the George Floyd Law Enforcement Trust and Integrity Act of 2020, which aims to prevent police brutality and calls for national policing standards. For example, the bill reforms hiring practices of law enforcement agencies mandates studies of training procedures that codify a uniform set of procedures for Police Officer conduct and implements other provisions. While this is a step in the right direction, broad legislation at the federal level is fundamentally unable to address the specific issues and nuances of local municipalities’ law enforcement. In order to better respond to the communities they serve, it is critical that local governments and policymakers take action on police reform.

Historically, the City of Berkeley has played a critical role in developing law enforcement practices. August Vollmer, the city’s first police Chief, who among other things, first put officers in automobiles, is hailed as the Father of American policing. Likewise, Berkeley is home to the nation’s first civilian oversight board over the Police Department. Berkeley can continue its leading role by addressing today’s policing issues, namely unconstitutional behavior, racial abuse, and unsustainable expense. Though a gargantuan problem, policymakers in Berkeley and elsewhere can make headway by breaking the larger problem into its individual parts — data-driven budgeting, police accountability, the warrior mentality instilled in police academies, and the use of armed officers in non-criminal cases.

Here is the full post on Medium: Safety For All: The George Floyd Community Safety Act.

Ben Bartlett Berkeley Councilmember: California Wants Blockchain-Based CBD Record Keeping

Ben Bartlett Berkeley Councilmember

In the online publication Cointelegraph, Councilmember Bartlett is extolling the possible virtues of cannabis record keeping based on blockchain. Here’s what he said on Cointelegraph:

Berkeley city council member Ben Bartlett told Cointelegraph that California government officials are currently advocating to adopt a blockchain-based track-and-trace methodology to ensure accurate record-keeping, better retention of taxation and standardization for the cannabis industry.

Bartlett helped to compose a report illustrating a blockchain roadmap for California. He mentioned that the document has been sent to the California governor and legislator for consideration, noting that there is an entire section dedicated to how blockchain technology can be used to manage the cannabis supply chain. Bartlett said:

“This will help standardize the cannabis industry, as we don’t have a clear picture of seed to sale and all the elements involved. Using blockchain would ensure that we are dealing with a product that is safe and recognized by state health standards. This is also a way to professionalize the emerging cannabis market.

While the report mentions that California policymakers should accept blockchain-based verification and reporting mechanisms for the cannabis supply chain, the document further notes that policymakers should consider “authorizing participants in the cannabis supply chain to use payment mechanisms that implement stringent industry ‘Know Your Customer’ processes but also accommodate U.S. regulatory concerns.”

According to Bartlett, the blockchain roadmap is the first recommendation of its caliber to be sent to the California governor for review. “Even though cannabis has its own allies and issues in the government, it was important to include because we see it as beneficial for the economy as a whole,” he remarked.

Stay tuned.

Coliseum City Origins: Coliseum Stadium Plan For Oakland Athletics Revealed In 2009 At Dellums Group
From YouTube Channel: March 31, 2009 at 03:36PM
ONN – Coliseum City Origins: Coliseum Stadium Plan For Oakland Athletics Revealed In 2009

This was written in 2009, and after a presentation before the Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums-formed Sports and Entertainment Task Force that was chaired by Chris DeBenedetti:

Oakland Coliseum City: Frank Dobson, Bob Leste, Steve Lowe Had Oakland A’s Stadium Plan Before Coliseum City https://ift.tt/17MyOt9 — The Commissioner of Baseball on Monday announced a new committee devoted to determining the viability of baseball in the East Bay. In his statements Commissioner Bud Selig said that the A’s owners have exhausted their efforts in Oakland. But really, they have not. Here’s an example in this plan for a new Coliseum baseball stadium on the parking lot land of the facility.

The plan, created by architect Frank Dobson and Retail Leasing expert Bob Leste with Oaklander Steve Lowe was first introduced in 2004 and while it was presented to the then-new ownership group and A’s Managing Partner Lew Wolff, it went largely ignored by them. Wolff was known to be in love with a concept called a baseball village and needed a lot of land to make that work, hence the Fremont land chase.

But the idea called for hundreds of acres of land, more than the A’s organization could afford given the economy and so needing public money turned to Fremont, which turned a deaf ear to their request.

Wolff has not wanted to be in Oakland, but the Mayor’s Sports and Entertainment Task Force wants to maintain the A’s here in Oakland. To that end, it supports the plan you’re about to see in this video.

The plan needs to be upgraded for 2009 and a financing plan developed. It also lacks an economic impact analysis and a job development report. But just eyeballing the plan I can say it can generate about 10,000 construction jobs and 4,000 permanent jobs. It calls for a new stadium, a parking structure, and a retail structure at the Coliseum as well as an enlarged BART bridge. The total cost is about $440 million but we at the task force understand that was a 2004 estimate.

The video shows much of Bob Leste’s presentation to the task force last Thursday and the discussion as well as the plan itself.

Stay tuned.

Note from Zennie62Media and Oakland News Now: this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a vlogger with the Zennie62 on YouTube Partner Channel, then uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours. Now, news is reported with a smartphone: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.

Ben Bartlett Berkeley Councilmember

Berkeley Councilmember Ben Bartlett joined The Institute for Community Leadership for an online seminar. Here’s the description of the event, courtesy Councilmember Bartlett and The Institute for Community Leadership:

We are grateful to Berkeley City Councilmember Ben Bartlett for joining us for an online Leadership Seminar in which we discussed the importance of seeing opportunities for making positive change amidst adversity.

Ben Bartlett is Councilmember for Berkeley’s District 3, a 5th generation Berkeley native, an attorney, and lifelong advocate for equity and inclusion. As the son of political activists, he learned the value of community and the necessity of progress. These values of innovation, opportunity and inclusion continue to inform his work.

ICL continues to turn on a dime, increasing our online classes and sessions during the shelter-in-place order. We are bringing experts from around the world with feet-on-the-ground experience in organizing, civic engagement and public service together with our youth and staff.

This is an excellent time to study the relevance and importance of transforming ourselves to make change in the world.

ONN – Johnny Love Metheny On The San Francisco Bar Scene And The Pandemic, And The Blue Light Cafe

Johnny Metheny, aka Johnny Love, is someone I have known since 1998. He’s known for opening a series of successful and legendary bar and grills in San Francisco and Walnut Creek, California called Johnny Love’s. Johnny is one of San Francisco’s legendary bartenders, a seasoned expert on the night life scene, and an all-around good guy. In 2004, Metheny sold his restaurants and clubs to launch Johnny Love Vodka, a line of flavored and ultra premium American vodkas.

Metheny got his nickname, “Johnny Love”, while a freshman at the University of California, Berkeley, where he received his degree in Economics. Johnny was a member of three national championship rugby teams, and became a licensed stockbroker, but his true calling has been as bartender, club owner, and (I stole this from a book description of him but its true) a “purveyor of fine spirits.”

Johnny has owned and owns famous San Francisco bar and restaurant spots like Mayes Oyster House, The Grubstake on Pine, and the Boz Skaggs created The Blue Light Café, and Toy Soldier on Belden Place. He also has a book available called “Drinking Makes You Sexy – All The Most Popular Drink recipes” on Amazon, and “Guide To Bar Etiquette – No More Bar Fouls!”.

To talk about the Pandemic and its impact on the San Francisco bar scene and night life, I could not think of anyone better to talk to than my friend, Johnny. I welcome him to Zennie62Media.

Stay tuned,.

This time a slightly less expedient start taking Avenal Ave, Havenscourt Blvd, 66th Ave, to the MLK Regional Shoreline/SF Bay Trail down to Doolittle Dr and the path that splits twixt the 2 Oakland airports to Bay Farm Island and Harbor Bay pkwy for the first station, continuing around to the bike bridge to Alameda Island staying on Shore Line Dr and 8th st to Central Ave which turns into Main St up to the 2nd ferry station. No wondering around in the construction this time, straight to Stargell Ave and around to check that the harrowing Posey Tube bike/ped path is still closed (it is) so over to Atlantic Ave et. al. along the north side of Alameda to the Park St bridge. Embarcadero and a quick jaunt through the Brooklyn Basin development (and the old 9th Ave station), Embarcadero over the bridge to Embarcadero W, through Jack London Square (and on the Amtrak platform) to Clay St and past the ferry station. 2nd St, 3rd St, and up through the West Oakland BART station, Mandela Pkwy to 14th St on in to run tween the 12th St & 19th St BART stations on Broadway over to Jackson to run past the Lake Merritt BART, and over the 10th St bridge to E 10th St/E 8th St/E 12th St, around a encampment fire cleanup, and on past the Fruitvale BART station and on to 54th Ave, Intl Blvd, 55th Ave on home.
