Oakland News Now Presents:

Is The Oakland Coliseum JPA Preparing To Sue The Las Vegas Bound Oakland A’s?

.

Given that the Oakland Athletics are deep in pre-development work toward building a ballpark in Clark County, Nevada, and after a surprise jumping ship from Howard Terminal negotiations, its not surprising that a lawsuit would be in the future, but from the Oakland Coliseum JPA?

The online-posted agenda for the scheduled May 19th, 2023 8:30 AM PST Meeting of The Oakland-Alameda County Joint Powers Authority is the first one in two months. The agenda shows there’s a lot of work to be done. But there’s one item for closed-session that just plain jumps out at the eye. It reads:

CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL – INITIATION OF LITIGATION: Initiation of litigation pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(d) (one case)

And Government Code Section 54956.9(d) simply means the same thing that the sentence above it says: that they’re having a meeting with their lawyers about starting some kind of lawsuit. Just what that would be is known only to a few people, and certainly not me. But the agenda offers the juicy possibility that the Coliseum JPA is considering (my guess) a first-strike lawsuit to recover monies owed, less the A’s just plain take off on them.

Given that there’s no indication the A’s have informed the Coliseum JPA about its intentions, a lawsuit threat is a good way to help force attention to the matter. Yes, I’m getting ahead of myself, and it’s just a feeling, but the time and circumstances just seem right, don’t they?

Stay tuned.

Note from Zennie62Media and OaklandNewsNow.com : this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a YouTube channel. When the video is “liked” by Zennie62 YouTube, then it is automatically uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective here, on top of our is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours – is the use of the existing YouTube social graph on any subject in the World. Now, news is reported with a smartphone and also by promoting current content on YouTube: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, or having a camera crew to shoot what is already on YouTube. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
