Oakland A’s Playoff loss to Astros 3-1 in which record-setting HR totals break record. Bad pitching by both but Astros did little things to score that A’s not capable of. No situational hitting the other 7 teams in the playoff did. Have to figure out how to translate MoneyBall in the regular season to a deep playoff run to a hopeful World Series.

Lakers go for a championship tonight against the Heat. Jimmy Butler has to have a herculean effort like Game 3 to keep Heat alive, otherwise tonight will be the last night in the bubble in Orlando.

ALCS and NLCS start Sunday and Monday and no days off in between as these 4 teams get ready to battle for a World Series appearance. Tonight Game 5 deciding who meets Houston between Tampa Bay and the Yankees. I have Tampa Bay.

ONN – Vasu Vaddiparty previews the A’s / White Sox playoff series starting Tuesday in Oakland. Because of 2020, all 3 games will be played in Oakland. There will be no travel. After the WildCard rounds then all the advancing teams will go to their version of the bubble. NL teams will go to Houston and Arlington and AL teams will go to LA and San Diego. The World Series will be at Globe Life Field, the brand new home of the Texas Rangers. A’s are the 2-seed and have to take on a White Sox team who 3 weeks ago had the best record in the AL. A tough 2-3 week stretch saw them fall to 2, then to 4th, and after a horrendous weekend against their cross-town rival Cubs fall all the way to 7th. A’s fans and players cannot take the White Sox lightly as they have MVP candidate Jose Abreu playing 1st. The A’s bullpen has to step up and young Jesus Lazardo has to avoid some of his control problems and attack the strike zone. He has excellent stuff but his location and his consistency will come into play tomorrow. He will be opposed by Lucas Giolito who is the White Sox ace and has a no-hitter on his 2020 resume. Not an easy matchup for Oakland but one they can play well in and win if they continue to do the right things.
