When current President Donald Trump picked Retired Gen. James Mattis for Secretary of Defense, the words CNN used about him were “who is”, and “mad dog”, which is the kickname Trump used for him.
But when President-Elect Joe Biden introduced Retired Gen. Lloyd Austin, the words did not include “who is”, as in “who is he”, but did include words implying that General Austin is less than James Mattis. That is, some democrats don’t want to pick him (because of the same issue of his length of retirement that came with Gen Mattis), or words like “controversial”. Then, there was “trailblazing” – but that was one of a few positive comments.
This, then, is a new media racism done, in this case, by CNN. Rather than just not liking Lloyd Austin because he’s black, they have to find something wrong with him of a technical nature.
This was also done to Oakland At-Large Candidate Derreck Johnson, and by a publication called Oaklandside, this year. In his case, everyone in Oakland knew that Johnson had a successful restaurant that he also had to close. But he did employ a number of black ex-prisoners. The publication, tipped off by an Oakland official, put out basically that he should not call himself successful because he filed for bankruptcy.
In other words, how dare this black man call himself successful!
The news came with a swift blast from this vlogger and a lot of criticism from many in Oakland. But that’s not the only example of media institutional racism. By contrast, Donald Trump has filed for bankruptcy many times, and yet is considered successful. If you look at all of the examples of this problem, it points to blacks being constantly put down in media coverage. And now, we have it being done to Lloyd Austin, who will be the first black person to be Secretary of Defense.
If CNN or the New York Times, does not like the idea of someone black being Secretary of Defense, they should just admit their racism, and go away.
