On Sunday, Twitter users complained of wild platform behavior after the news of Kobe Bryant’s helicopter crash death spread. Now, it turns out that Twitter crashed.
The question I have is did the crash happen because Twitter installed new code that was to supposedly control tweet language? One thing I noticed is that Twitter in the past had a system of caching so that large traffic flows were controlled. Now with the Kobe passing that seems not to be the case, particularly with mobile-generated tweets.

For example, if you have your Twitter account active from both your laptop and mobile device, Twitter’s code goes haywire and acts as if you’re two different people. Then, the code behaves as if it’s programmed to be super-sensitive to automated tweets, when the action is very much human.
Imagine millions of tweets about the same thing in five seconds? This Twitter code seems unable to handle that.
Twitter is way too focused on politics and needs to return to the basics of handling microblog traffic.
