Ed Lozzi Talks Tango Shalom Movie, Beverly Hills Columnist The Late Marci Weiner
From YouTube Channel: March 9, 2021 at 12:49AM
ONN – On Friday, March 12th, at 8 PM PST, my friend, famed Beverly Hills Publicist Edward Lozzi, will be on Zennie62 YouTube Live to talk about the new movie he’s promoting called “Tango Shalom”, and about the passing of Marci Weiner, the legendary columnist for the Beverly Hills Courier.
UPDATE: Lainie Kazan, Star Of ‘Tango Shalom’, Will Return To Star In ‘ Big Fat Greek Wedding 3
On Friday night’s show, Mr. Lozzi first talked about Marci Weiner, and what made her one of the greatest columnists in Hollywood history: “She didn’t just write about them,” talking about the celebrities she met, “she wrote details about them.” Ed said that Ms. Weiner got them to talk to her just by asking them to tell her what their latest projects were – not what they had done, but what they were working on.
Then, we turned to the subject of the new movie Tango Shalom. The movie is described as follows:
“TANGO SHALOM” storyline: Moshe Yehuda, a Hasidic Rabbi and amateur Hora dancer, played by Jos Laniado, enters a big televised Tango competition to save his Hebrew school from bankruptcy. There is only one problem: due to his orthodox religious beliefs, he is not allowed to touch a woman! At odds with his wife and five kids, the Grand Rabbi of his orthodox sect, and M
oshe’s entire Hasidic community in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Moshe is forced to ask a Catholic priest, a Muslim iman, and a Sikh holy man for advice. Together, they hash out a plan to help Moshe dance in the Tango contest “without sacrificing his sacred beliefs”… setting in motion a fun, passionate dance movie. Heart-pumping and heartwarming, “TANGO SHALOM” tests the bonds of family and community, and the bounds of tolerance and faith.
Produced by Joel Zwick, director of My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Robert Meyer Burnett (Agent Cody Banks franchise), co-written by and co-starring Academy Award-nominated, Emmy Award-winning Joseph Bologna (My Favorite Year, Adam Sandler’s Big Daddy, Lovers and Other Strangers) and starring Golden Globe nominated Lainie Kazan (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Karina Smirnoff (20-season alumna of Dancing With The Stars), Academy Award-nominated, Emmy Award-winning Renée Taylor (Adam Sandler’s The Do Over, The Producers, CBS’ The Nanny, How to Be a Latin Lover), Jos Laniado (Milcho Manchevski’s Bikini Moon), Claudio Laniado (Mudbound), Bern Cohen (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Judi Beecher (Taken 3, Family is Family, La Garconne) and directed by Gabriel Bologna (co-writer of Love is All There Is starring Angelina Jolie, writer of HBO’s The Elevator starring Martin Landau, director of Boston Girls starring Danny Trejo, and The Black Waters of Echo’s Pond).
An eclectic and modern soundtrack provided by Universal Music includes multiple Grammy Award-winning Gordon Goodwin, Latin Grammy-nominated Tango sensation Daniel Binelli, The actual Vatican Choir, the top-charts British act Touch and Go, as well as modern Klezmer bands Golem, The Burning Bush, and Barcelona Gypsy Klezmer Band. All the dance sequences were choreographed by Jordi Caballero, who worked with Madonna, and The Spice Girls, and was Supervising Choreographer for Dancing With The Stars.
As I said to Ed after we watched the movie’s trailer, I want to interview Karina Smirnoff, as she’s got amazing star quality and that was evident on Dancing With The Stars.
We also managed to talk about the late Persis Khambatta. The famous Indian model and actress who’s best known for playing the eventually-digitized Lieutenant Ilia in the 1979 feature film Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Here, Ed dropped some bombshell news: that he had Persis Khambatta as a client, and then went on to date her – and he asserts that she was murdered!
While their relationship never progressed to marriage, they remained friends, even after their time of coital bliss. Because of how well he knew Ms. Khambatta, Ed’s never bought into the party line reason she died:
In 1998, Khambatta was taken to the Marine Hospital in south Mumbai, complaining of chest pains, and she died of a massive heart attack on 18 August 1998 at the age of 49. Her funeral was held in Mumbai the following day.
Ed believes Persis Khambatta was murdered for her political beliefs. This is not the first time Ed’s made that claim. On his corporate website, Ed writes this:
She campaigned for Indira Ghandi, whom she loved. Religious fanatics wanted Ghandi and Persis dead. Death threats were the norm for Persis. She fluffed them off. They murdered Indira Ghandi. Then they murdered Persis in Bombay in 1998. Yes, murder. The media questioned the details of the death of Persis Khambatta. They wanted to know why there was no autopsy from the Bombay hospital where she disappeared after the hospital announced her death as a heart attack. Investigators for the media in the US and London found that she was constantly threatened by those who murdered Indira Ghandi. It would be very easy to inject air into her heart or turn a switch off in a hospital room. We know what happened. Persis reported her threats to Indian law enforcement officials constantly. After her death those records disappeared. The death notice including IMDB states: death by heart attack. That is not certain. There is no autopsy. I will never forget our brief encounter. Demons entered her life. She fled back to her native India where her demons caught up with her. Always remembered.
Stay tuned.
Note from Zennie62Media and OaklandNewsNow.com : this video-blog post demonstrates the full and live operation of the latest updated version of an experimental Zennie62Media , Inc. mobile media video-blogging system network that was launched June 2018. This is a major part of Zennie62Media , Inc.’s new and innovative approach to the production of news media. What we call “The Third Wave of Media”. The uploaded video is from a YouTube channel. When the video is “liked” by Zennie62 YouTube, then it is automatically uploaded to and formatted automatically at the Oakland News Now site and Zennie62-created and owned social media pages. The overall objective here, on top of our is smartphone-enabled, real-time, on the scene reporting of news, interviews, observations, and happenings anywhere in the World and within seconds and not hours – is the use of the existing YouTube social graph on any subject in the World. Now, news is reported with a smartphone and also by promoting current content on YouTube: no heavy and expensive cameras or even a laptop are necessary, or having a camera crew to shoot what is already on YouTube. The secondary objective is faster, and very inexpensive media content news production and distribution. We have found there is a disconnect between post length and time to product and revenue generated. With this, the problem is far less, though by no means solved. Zennie62Media is constantly working to improve the system network coding and seeks interested content and media technology partners.
